Djimon Hounsou has joined the team of “A Quiet Place” sequel by replacing Brian Tyree Henry. Henry has reportedly walked out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. Hounsou will be working along with Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, Milicent Simmons and franchise newcomer Cillian Murphy in the film.
“A Quiet Place” released in 2018 and grossed $341 million worldwide. The movie was directed by John Krasinski, who will return to direct the sequel. Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and Michael Bay will act as the producers. The horror-thriller tells the story of a family in an apocalyptic future where human beings have to survive blind extra-terrestrial creatures who hunt by sounds. The isolated family is forced to live in silence in order to stay alive.
With the creatures still remaining undefeated, the sequel might see the surviving family members teaming up with other survivors. The screenplay is being kept under wraps and the movie is yet to confirm its title even though shooting has already commenced.
The movie which received positive reviews also won the Critics’ Choice for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie and Emily Blunt won the Screen Actors Guild Award as a supporting actor for her role. Krasinski wrote the screenplay jointly with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck and it was nominated by Writers Guild in the original screenplay category.
Hounsou has experience in the sci-fi and the horror genre after having starred in movies like “Constantine” and “Push”. This year, the Beninese actor appeared in superhero movies from both the DC and Marvel stables and was seen in “Shazam!” and “Captain Marvel”. He is also working in Marvel’s upcoming superhero series, “What If…?”.
Hounsou will be playing a leading role in the upcoming “The King’s Man”, the prequel to “Kingsman” directed by Matthew Vaughn and will also be seen in the reboot of “Charlie’s Angels”. The actor is presently represented by CAA, Elevate Artist Management and The Safran Company.
Brian Tyree Henry who walked out of the project is currently busy with the untitled Lila Neugebauer Project along with Jennifer Lawrence and is also engaged in post-production work for “The Woman in the Window” and “The Outside Story.” He has also been cast in Marvel’s “The Eternals,” which is all set to start production later this year.
“A Quiet Place” premiered at South by Southwest festival and the 2020 edition of the festival launches on March 16th. Paramount Pictures has set the release date of the sequel to March 20, 2020.
