Nicki Minaj tweets that she’s retiring to ‘have my family’

NEW YORK –  Is Nicki Minaj really hanging up the mic?

The chart-topping rapper announced Thursday on Twitter that she “decided to retire & have my family.” Her announcement comes as a surprise after she recently made a guest appearance on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer.”

In the tweet, Minaj she took a jab at her critics and asked her fans to “keep reppin me, do it til da death of me.”

In July, Minaj,36, declared she was pulling out a show in Saudi Arabia to show support women’s rights, gay rights and freedom of expression. She also canceled her appearance at the BET Experience Concert earlier this year.

She added a note to her followers, asking them to “keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, [x] in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me” — a reference to her collaboration with Alicia Keys on a remix of the singer’s hit “Girl on Fire.”

Minaj recently told listeners of her “Queen Radio” show that she and boyfriend Kenneth Perry had applied for a marriage license and would be wed in “about 80 days.”

Last year, Minaj released her fourth studio album “Megatron.”

An American news-based pay television channel (CNN) reached out to Minaj’s representatives for verification of this news as well as clarification as to whether this means the Grammy-nominated musician, who is also a producer and actress, will be retiring from all her endeavors.

A representative for Minaj didn’t immediately reply to messages
