Will Smith celebrated his 51st birthday fan event in Budapest ahead of the release of his new film Gemini Man. While walking on the red carpet during the premiere of the movie he was given the birthday cake, complete with a little candle to blow out.
After keeping his commitments related to work, the actor cum rapper took the stage in the St. Stephens Basilica Square in Hungary and gave the excited audience a taste of his vocal prowess. He reunited with DJ Jazzy Jeff to treat the fans with some of his hits like Boom Shake The Room, Summertime and the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air theme song. His wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, also joined him on stage.
Pinkett Smith also shared a sweet birthday message for her husband in Instagram. “Happy Birthday, Willard! I never considered you funny. But after many years, I finally get your humor. Thank you for teaching me how to laugh with you and how to laugh at myself,” she wrote.
Smith mentioned earlier that he is “peaceful” and “accepting of life” but feels his age in his back and his knees while reflecting on the process of getting older on his 51st birthday.
“Life is just delicious right now. It’s interesting, other than my back and my knees, this is the best time of my life. It’s not even happier, it’s less and more. I’m peaceful,” he said. “I’ve never been more accepting of life, whichever direction it goes, it’s all good, and I’m just having a beautiful time living and exploring and there is not a single day I would go backwards to.”
His new movie, Gemini Man, directed by Ang Lee, will portray him as a retired hitman pitched against a younger version of himself in a fight for his life. Even before the release of the movie it has already been announced as a winner of an Entertainment Technology Lumiere Award.
The film features an entirely digitally rendered version of a younger Smith, based on his appearance in the 1995 film Bad Boys. “It was really weird the first time that I saw the two images together. It’s hard for people to comprehend this but it’s not my face made younger, it’s a completely 100% digital human, that character,” Smith said.
Smith’s last released movie was Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin, which crossed $1 billion worldwide to become the highest-grossing movie of his career. Apart from doing press tours for Gemini Man, he has also united with Martin Lawrence for the upcoming Bad Boys 3.
